Ambassador: Imports of Russian liquefied gas priority for Bahrain

MOSCOW, Mar 7 (PRIME) -- Russian natural gas supplies to Bahrain is priority for the kingdom, Ambassador to Russia Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Saati told PRIME on Tuesday.

“Priority is a project for gas supplies from Russia to Bahrain and construction of a liquefied natural gas terminal and its further distribution from Bahrain,” he said.

“Bahrain has fulfilled its obligations -- construction of a platform with a South Korean firm was launched about two months ago and the project’s cost will not exceed U.S. $600 million. We hope it will be finished until the end of 2018 and we are ready to receive the gas.”

He reiterated that the country signed an agreement with Russian gas giant Gazprom on exploration of oil and gas fields, and an agreement with Russian state-owned exploration company Rosgeo, also known as Rosgeologia.
